Our support group is for anyone who has experienced a death related loss. Grief is the acute pain that accompanies loss and is a normal and natural response. Grief can have an ongoing affect which can impact our everyday lives. Grief can intrude on thoughts, feelings and behaviours, affecting our relationships, our work, physical health, beliefs and our sleep and eating patterns.
A bereavement support group is a safe place where people can meet and provide compassion, comfort and support to one another. By reaching out to others, participants are given with the opportunity to communicate a shared understanding of similar challenges that bereavement brings.
The strength of such support groups lies in the connections that can be made with other group members, and understandings that come from shared stories and experiences.
There are many other benefits in joining a support group such as validation, social connection, suggestions for coping and instilling hope.
